聖言中學於九月五日假基督君王小堂舉行金禧校慶感恩祭，由宗座署理湯漢樞機主禮，聖言會中華省會長張日亮神父、聖言會港澳區會長張興灝神父、聖言中學校監張明德神父及其他聖言會神父共祭，並邀請教區教育事務署代表、公教婦女會代表、友校校長、家長、校友等與全校師生參禮。

湯漢樞機講道時提出以三種情意來反思聖言中學的過去、現在與將來。

首先是以感恩之心回顧過去—聖言會由聖楊生神父於一八七五年創會，到一九六九年甘伯德神父創辦聖言中學，到走過五十年歲月，這種種發展一切得來不易，值得感恩。其次是以熱情活在當下，特別在聖言的教導下，師生應繼續以校訓「克明峻德」的精神來生活，使大家能日趨完善，力求進步。最後是秉持希望，邁向未來。

湯樞機更勉勵會眾追求一個立體的人生，愛主、愛人，亦要幫助他人認識天主，獲得永恆的幸福，這樣大家便能成為光明的火炬，在生命中發光發熱。

該校校監張明德神父在感恩祭開始時表示，聖言中學自創校以來致力為觀塘區男孩提供優質、具國際視野的教育，未來將繼續以此精神為當區學生服務。

該校以感恩祭作為創校金禧校慶活動之序幕，其他慶祝活動包括明年三月將舉辦五十周年開放日，並正籌備明年七月上演一齣英語音樂劇等。

Sing Yin Secondary School, New Clear Water Bay Road, celebrated its 50th Anniversary thanksgiving Mass in Christ the King Chapel, Causeway Bay on September 5.

Representatives of the Catholic Education Office, the Catholic Women’s League and affiliated schools, parents, alumni, teachers and students attended the Mass celebrated by Cardinal John Tong, the Apostolic Administrator of the Hong Kong Diocese. Several Divine Word Missionary fathers including Chang Jih Liang, John Zhang, Johnson Dhos concelebrated the jubilee Mass.

In the Homily, Cardinal John talked about the importance of gratitude, passion and hope for the School that has a long history of 50 years.

Sing Yin Secondary School was established by Father Patrick Canavan in 1969. Jubilee is a time of gratitude for the great efforts and sacrifices of the missionaries, staff, students and well wishes of the school.

Cardinal Tong also encouraged the school to share God’s love and hope to build a future. When one shares God's love and grace with others, he would become a torch, which shines in the world.

Father Dhos, the school Supervisor said that Sing Yin has been providing boys in Kwun Tong with international insights for the past 50 years, and it would continue its work in the future.

The school will organise a series of activities to celebrate its 50th Anniversary, including open Days in March 2020 and an English musical in July 2020.
