聖言中學開學禮及聖言會創會紀念日祈禱會 First Day of School and Divine Word Missionary Foundation Day Prayer Meeting

本校於月初舉行了兩次祈禱會，包括開學祈禱禮儀及聖言會創會紀念禮儀。

開學祈禱禮儀由校監張明德神父主持。校監勉勵我們要善作決擇，以行動回應讀經 (瑪5:14) ，成為耶穌在山中聖訓提到的「地鹽世光」。對於人工智能 (AI) 的應用，應以負責任的態度，加以客觀判斷力，並以行動回應天主教的五大核心價值之一：真理。

許志權校長則主持聚會的第二部份，除了報告公開試成積，校長也向同學介紹學年的三個重點關注事項，並歡迎新加入聖言中學大家庭的幾位老師。

九月八日是聖言會創會紀念，本校在九月十日舉行聖言會創會紀念祈禱會。校監歡迎並介紹主禮范聖言神父 (Rev. Franz Gassner)。在講道中，范神父回顧聖言會的傳教和辦學歷史，他也鼓勵我們在學業上及其他方面互相幫助，在聖神的光照下共同成長。祈禱會除了歌詠、讀經和祈禱之外，我們更透過短片重溫聖楊生神父成立聖言會、以及他派遺聖福若瑟神父到香港傳教的歷史。此外，會上也播放影片，介紹聖言會成立的另外兩間學校，分是是St. Arnold's School, Bagdehi (印度) 及 St. Arnold's Kumdi Elementary School (巴布亞新幾內亞)，與我校共同培育青年，發揚我校辦學宗旨「我來為使人得到生命，且獲得更豐富的生命。」若 10:10

禮儀結束前，校長致送紀念品予主禮范神父。校長在致詞中重新強調「愛」和「感恩」的心，讓我們對面前的盛宴時，能放下「理所當然」的心態，全校上下一心，共同付出及作出行動，共建理想校園和學習環境。

In the beginning of the school year, two prayer meetings were held: Prayer Meeting for New School Year and Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) Foundation Day Prayer Meeting.

The Prayer Meeting for New School Year was presided over by our School Supervisor, Rev. Johnson Dhos, SVD. Fr. Johnson encouraged us to make good choices, take action responding to the Gospel, and become 'light and salt' (Matthew 5:14). When addressing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), he reminded us to adopt a responsible attitude, exercise objective judgment, and uphold "Truth"— one of the five core values of Catholic Education.

Our Principal, Mr. Hui Chi-kuen, presided over the second part of the gathering. In addition to reporting the public examination results, Principal Hui introduced the school’s three major concerns for the academic year. He also introduced and extended a warm welcome to new teachers joining the Sing Yin Secondary School family.

September 8 marks the SVD Foundation Day, and our school held the Divine Word Missionaries Foundation Day Prayer Meeting on September 10. Fr. Johnson, our School Supervisor, welcomed and introduced the principal celebrant, Rev. Franz Gassner. In his homily, Fr.Gassner reviewed the SVD's history of missionary work and education. He also encouraged us to support one another in our studies and other aspects of life, growing together under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Aside from hymns, scripture readings, and prayers, we revisited the history of St. Arnold Janssen founding the SVD and sending St. Joseph Freinademetz to mission in Hong Kong through short videos. Furthermore, another video was shown to introduce two other schools established by the SVD: St. Arnold's School in Bagdehi, India, and St. Arnold's Kumdi Elementary School in Papua New Guinea. Together with our school, they nurture youth and live out our school mission: "I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10)

Before the liturgy concluded, Principal Hui presented souvenir to Father Gassner. In his closing remarks, Mr Hui re-emphasized the importance of "Love" and "Gratitude." He urged us to let go of a "taken-for-granted" mindset when facing the abundance before us. He called upon the entire school to unite, contribute, and take action together to build an ideal campus and learning environment.
